COULD YOU BE OUR NEXT PCC SECRETARY?

The voluntary post of Secretary to the Parochial Church Council (PCC)
will shortly fall vacant.
It is an important post supporting the PCC who meet on average 4/5 times a year.

If you would like to contribute to the smooth running of our church,
then please contact the Churchwardens
or Karen Robinson, the current post holder, for more details.

PREPARING FOR WINTER

VOLUNTEERS NEEDED!

In many years there is a gathering together to give the church a good spring clean.
This year it has been decided to give the church a "deep clean"
and check-over to make sure there are no outstanding jobs needed
to protect the "old lady" from the ravages of winter wind and rain.
 

Please join us on Saturday 19th October, starting at 9.30am.
 

This is a worthwhile and fun activity - coffee, tea and biscuits will be provided
to fuel volunteers and there is always a sense of accomplishment
from having joined a team in a common cause.

Please put the date in your diary.
All are welcome and, in fact, actively encouraged to come along
for this autumn morning of physical activity.

A POEM A DAY FOR ADVENT AND CHRISTMAS

St. Lawrence church warmly invites you to explore some poetry this December!

Take your mind off the Christmas "to-do" lists, card writing and gift wrapping
and enjoy some poems to think afresh about the Christmas story.

With both modern and traditional poems, there are poems for everyone - there is
bound to be something new to get us all thinking about the meaning of Christmas.

The St. Lawrence 2024 Advent Anthology will be available from mid-November
and there will be no charge for the booklets. 
The format is "one a day" from the start of Advent Sunday, 1st December,
to read at home and enjoy in your own time. 
There are no rules though - if you want to read more than one a day,
or you want to start reading in November, there is nothing to stop you!

There will be an opportuity to share thoughts about the poems
and hear other people's views over a gentle discussion. 
You are warmly invited...

If you would like to write a poem for inclusion, you are more than welcome -
we would love to hear from you!

A second evening of discussion around the poems is planned for the new year,
date and time to be agreed on 17th December.

Will be held in the Reading Room on the

1st Tuesday of each month,
9.30 - 10.30am

including time for refreshments and fellowship.

EVENSONG AT ST. LAWRENCE

will take place on the

2nd Sunday of the month

From April until October the time of Evensong will be 6pm and
between November-March the service will take place at 4pm. 
There will be no Evensong in December.
