Praying for the New Incumbent for the

Benefice of St Francis with St Lawrence

It doesn’t seem at all long since Paul Taylor left as Incumbent of our benefice, yet the interviews for our new Incumbent will take place on 28th and 29th of November.  Since Paul’s departure a huge amount of work has been done in drawing up a Parish Profile.  This has largely been complied by a group at St Francis but St Lawrence has been represented in discussions and who we are and what we do, is well described in the final document and we will have a representative on the interview panel.

For some years now, St Lawrence has been looked after by an Associate Priest – firstly Tessa and now me – who ministers at St Lawrence and in the whole village community whilst working closely with the Vicar of St Francis.  Yet the appointment of a new Incumbent is significant for us.  Whoever has this role has overall legal responsibility for our parish and will want to support, encourage and be involved in helping us live at our Christian calling in this community.

Please do then pray for all those who have already applied for this role, or who may still be praying about whether to!  Please pray for all who will be shortlisting, interviewing and being interviewed at the end of this month.  And most importantly, please do pray that God’s call would be prayerfully discerned throughout the appointment process; that, as in all things, His will would be done.

The November Evensong will be on Sunday 18th November

Lighten our darkness, we beseech thee, O Lord;

and by your great mercy

defend us from all perils and dangers of this night;

for the love of thy only Son,

our saviour Jesus Christ. Amen
